As a pioneer of installing moorings in the Mentawais, WavePark empowered their local staff to be at the core of the movement from the beginning. Employees were able to take ownership of the moorings and they were trained on how to maintain them for WavePark and other surf tourism operators to use. The boat captain has even begun researching the potential for installing artificial reefs in areas that have been impacted by other industries in the Mentawais.
